Mark Gurman has revealed in his report how the upcoming mixed-reality headset from Apple will work in precise detail. So, let’s take a look at the key features of the top-secret project of Apple – Apple VR headset:

Display

The most important feature we all want is a high-resolution, high-quality display. This Apple headset will have not one but two ultra-high-resolution displays to show virtual reality (VR) content. On the other hand, there will also be external cameras to manage the headset’s augmented reality (AR) mode.

The visuals are supported with great audio. The device will come with integrated speakers. For a full spatial audio experience, connect the headset with your AirPods.

Hand and Eye Sensors

The Apple headset will come with great hand- and eye-tracking capabilities. According to Gurman, “this will be a major Selling point for the device.” The user’s hand movements will easily control the external cameras, and the internal sensors will respond and follow the eye movements.

This feature will help you to select on-screen items like apps and buttons. All you need is to look at them, and it will be selected to activate; you have to pinch your thumb and forefinger together. This feature will remove bulky or uncomfortable controllers from the user’s hands.

AR/VR Switching Mode

The Digital Crown feature, which is also on Apple Watch, will be the same as the Apple Headset. This will allow the user to switch between VR and AR modes by simply twisting a dial. This is another great selling point of the device.

From the outside, the Apple VR headset will be made from “aluminum, glass, and cushions.” This will be reminiscent of Apple’s $550 AirPods Max headphones, so both devices can be used together.

Software

Mark Gurman described the Apple VR headsets as an “ambitious attempt to create a 3D version of the iPhone’s operating system.” The device would include versions of popular apps like Safari, Photos, Mail, Messages, and Calendar. Like all Apple devices, this one also has an app store and Apple’s entertainment services, including Apple Music and Apple TV+.

Face Timing

One of the key integrations on this device will be with Apple’s own FaceTime video-calling app. According to Gurman’s report, “the headset will realistically render a user’s face and full body in virtual reality during the entire video call.” You can see apple vr headset massive leak.

Other VR headsets, like the Meta Quest Pro headset, have cartoonish users’ avatars, but this will not be the case with the Apple Reality Pro headset. Here the users will be displayed as an icon or Memoji.

External Display for Mac

One of the great things about the Reality Pro headset is that you can use it as an external display for Mac. Gurman says, “Users will be able to see their Mac’s display in virtual reality but still control the computer with their trackpad or mouse and physical keyboard.”

So, you can basically use your Mac’s mouse and keyboard while seeing the display mirrored in the headset. Pretty cool, right?

M2 Chip

All the features and great experiences we have mentioned about the Apple AR/VR headset will be powered by a variation of the M2 chip. There will also be an additional graphics chip called the Reality Processor. However, this will make the device a bit warm. So Apple has removed the battery, which can last up to two hours on each charge.

Now, let’s talk about the RED FLAGS of the device.

As this headset will be the first Generation Apple product, there will surely be some issues (after looking into Apple’s product launch history!).

One of the major deal breakers of the headset is the battery. As we mentioned above that there would be no battery inside the headset. Apple has removed it because it is making the device warm. So they changed that and transformed it into a separate unit known as the “External Battery Pack.” Users can put this battery in their pocket and connect it to the headset through a cable. There will also be a fan to keep things cool.

The external battery will be around six inches tall and over half an inch thick. This is “roughly the size of two iPhone 14 Pro Maxes stacked on top of each other.”

So, the question is would the users like to carry this extra weight in their pockets while using the headset?

Another thing that is more like one of the weird features is a curved screen on the front. This curved screen “outwardly shows a wearer’s eyes.”

So, after spending about $3000 for an Apple AR/VR headset, you’ll get premium features such as a super high-resolution display, a powerful processor, an external 3D sensor, and more.

These key features are mentioned by Mark Gurman, who is known to give detailed reports about Apple products. Still, we can see some variations when the device finally launches. However, if even a fraction of Gurman’s report comes true, the Reality Pro headset could be one of the most intriguing and time-changing Apple devices in recent years.

So, what do you think about this device?
